Study - Department of Finance

The department guarantees the study program Finance in the bachelor's degree program, as well as in the master's degree program the specialization Finance within the study program Finance and Accounting and the doctoral study program Finance. The study program Finance in all levels of study is also implemented and offered for international students in English language.

Within the study, the department of Finance cooperates with a number of foreign universities, e.g. Hubei University of Technology in Wuhan, China, Università degli Studi di Bergamo in Italy, Tsinghua University Beijing in China, University of Pisa in Italy, University of Calabria in Italy, Huddersfield University in Great Britain etc.

Bachelor study

Bachelor study at the Faculty of Economics, VŠB-TU Ostrava takes three years. It is completed by the state bachelor exam and defense of the bachelor thesis. Successful graduates are awarded the Bachelor's degree - Bc.
Applicants who have completed at least secondary school leaving exams (“Decision on the recognition of equivalence (validity) of a foreign certificate in the Czech Republic”) can apply for bachelor study programs at the Faculty of Economics at VŠB-TU Ostrava and have demonstrated their knowledge of the English language by submitting a proof of language proficiency. IELTS 5.0 score tests; TOEFL 62 Internet Scores (possible other same level certificates). Candidates prepare a cover letter to study.

After completing the bachelor's degree program in Finance, graduates may continue in their studies in the Master's degree program in Finance, or choose from other economic oriented programs with economic orientation at this level of study.

Master study

The program is the continuation to the Bachelor's degree programs in Finance, Accounting and Taxation, Economics and Management, Marketing and other programs of economic orientation. Candidates who have completed at least a bachelor degree program and demonstrated knowledge of English language can apply. The program is prepared as a two-year course. It is completed by the state examination and defense of the thesis. Successful graduates are awarded the master title. After completing the program, it is possible to continue in the doctoral degree study at the Faculty of Economics, VŠB-TU Ostrava or other programs of economic orientation.

Doctoral study

Doctoral study programme Finance follows master degree at Faculty of Economics, especially those of Finance or Finance & Accounting study programmes, though any other master degree is basically sufficient to enter doctoral study programme Finance.

The doctoral studies at Faculty of Economics, VSB-Technical University of Ostrava should take 4 years according to a personal study plan of the student. It specifies all study requirements, such as courses, teaching activities, research activities, internship abroad, etc., and their scheduling.
