Faculty of Economics was founded in 1977 and is part of VŠB – TU Ostrava. With its 12 departments, it prepares annually professionals who work as economists, successful managers, financial and tax specialists, marketing experts, clerks, IT specialists or successful entrepreneurs. Cooperation with international companies like KPMG Česká republika, s.r.o., Kofola ČeskoSlovensko a.s., AdVisio marketing s.r.o., Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Czech s r.o., Coca‑Cola Česká Republika s.r.o. or Plzeňský Prazdroj, a.s. makes the Faculty of Economics an educational institution connected with practice. The faculty is a research institution dealing with research projects in the fields of economics, finance, public economy, management, business economics and informatics.
Nowadays the Faculty of Economics offers a wide range of modern, internationally oriented study programs, responding to the demands of graduates in the new economic conditions of the 21st century. You can choose from a range of bachelor's, master's and doctoral degree programs completely taught in English. In collaboration with Liverpool John Moores University, the faculty also offers a prestigious three-year MBA study.
The Faculty implements the ISO quality management system. Through the Master's degree in Finance, we are involved in the CFA Institute's International University Affiliation Program and are accredited for selected courses in Accounting and Taxes taught at the faculty as part of the ACCA (The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants in Glasgow, UK).
The credit system fully compatible with the European Credit Transfer System is fully implemented at the faculty, enabling student mobility not only in the Czech Republic but also within European countries. Students can use the faculty exchange network with other European universities and develop their language skills and experience at another European university. Student mobility is organized within EU projects (especially Erasmus+ and Ceepus).
Thanks to long-term cooperation with foreign countries, a significant percentage of foreign students from all over the world are represented at the faculty, creating a favorable and inspiring international study environment.
