24. - 25. 10. 2024, International Conferences on Economics of Climate Change (InCECC)

Another InCECC conference was held on October 24–25, 2024, with a focus on practical pathways to climate neutrality, hosting more than 40 attendees. These conferences solidified Katowice's role in advancing global climate economics research. The results of the DO IT project and how the COIL and BIP methods can be used in this area were also briefly presented here.

23. 10. 2024, Blended Intensive Programmes in Katowice

Two expert workshops at the University of Economics in Katowice highlighted Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs):

  • On October 23, 2024, practical examples of blended learning were shared with over 20 attendees, emphasizing innovative teaching methods in international education.

15. 10. 2024, The DO IT Multiplier Event, Amsterdam

The DO IT Multiplier Event was held on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences. This event focused on sharing the results of the Erasmus+ project "DO IT - Developing Online International Teamwork," highlighting tools and insights for starting Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) and Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) initiatives.

The program featured presentations by key contributors, including Eva Haug, Chie Misumi, Adriaan van Nieuwkerk, and Margit Varga, alongside findings from partner institutions such as the Technical University of Ostrava, the University of Madeira, and the University of Economics in Wroclaw. Attendees gained insights into the benefits and challenges of COIL and BIP projects, as well as access to tools developed for fostering intercultural competences and global collaboration in education. The event combined presentations, a meet-and-greet session, and practical examples of successful and less successful implementations, emphasizing actionable knowledge for educators. To amplify the project’s impact, a DO IT Multiplier Event was organized during International Week, involving 23 participants, including 10 from outside the consortium. A unique opportunity to showcase the project to a global audience!

11. 10. 2024, The DO IT Multiplier Event, Wroclaw

The DO IT Multiplier Event took place on Friday, October 11, 2024, at InQube’s Unicorn Room at Wroclaw University (Poland) and online, bringing together several dozen participants to explore innovative approaches to internationalizing student education. The program included an introduction to the DO IT project and its international partners, followed by a panel discussion on best practices in Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) courses. A case study from Coventry University showcased practical implementation, and a webinar provided a detailed COIL manual with tips on course preparation and overcoming cultural barriers. The event concluded with an interactive table discussion, inviting guests and online participants to co-create ideas. Supported by European Union funding, the event emphasized effective strategies for fostering global collaboration in education.

11. 6. 2024, U!REKA Online Workshops

On June 11, 2024, the U!REKA COIL Meet and Greet welcomed over 15 participants to an engaging virtual session. This workshop served as a platform for educators and administrators to share insights and strategies for implementing Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL), enhancing cross-cultural education opportunities across U!REKA partner institutions.

3. - 6. 6. 2024, U!REKA Connects 2024 in Ostrava

From June 3–6, 2024, Ostrava hosted the annual U!REKA Connects event, gathering nearly 200 educators and professionals from across Europe. This impactful gathering, organized by VSB – Technical University of Ostrava, showcased innovative practices in COIL (Collaborative Online International Learning) and BIP (Blended Intensive Programmes). Highlights included the launch of the U!REKA Student Council and engaging discussions on advancing climate-neutral urban communities. Educational workshops explored real-world student collaboration projects, fostering ideas for future initiatives. A fantastic example of teamwork shaping the next generation of urban professionals.

During the U!REKA Connects conference, the Educational Forum brought together educators to discuss COIL and BIP integration. With a focus on collaborative solutions, the forum inspired actionable steps to enhance joint educational activities. This practical and inclusive approach paves the way for stronger international partnerships and enriched student experiences.

5. 5. 2024, Blended Intensive Programmes in Katowice

Two expert workshops at the University of Economics in Katowice highlighted Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs):

  • On May 5, 2024, a workshop for academic staff explored BIP strategies, involving 21 participants.

13. 4. 2024, International Week Poland

On April 13, 2024, at WSB University in Dąbrowa Górnicza, Poland, Eva Haug introduced 30 attendees to the innovative COIL and BIP practices developed under the DO IT project, sparking interest in its global applications.

18. 4. 2024, Female Voices in COIL Conference

On March 18, 2024, at Coventry University, UK, Eva Haug presented the DO IT project to an audience of 50 during the "Female Voices in COIL" conference. A powerful platform highlighting global educational cooperation.

14. 3. 2024, Knowledge Parade - Amsterdam

On March 14, 2024, at the Hogeschool van Amsterdam, Eva Haug introduced 15 participants to the achievements of the DO IT project during the Knowledge Parade. A celebration of international teamwork and education!

11. 12. 2023, Rethinking Business Economics Education

On December 11, 2023, Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS) hosted a focused online workshop, engaging around 10 participants in discussions on reshaping business economics curricula to align with contemporary global challenges. This session exemplified the DO IT project’s commitment to evolving education practices through collaboration and innovation.

11-2023, Think Global Festival November 2023 - Amsterdam

As part of AUAS's International Week in 2023, Eva Haug highlighted the DO IT project as a best practice for integrating COIL and BIP initiatives. This engaging session gathered 20 participants to explore tools for fostering intercultural collaboration.

23. - 24. 10. 2023, International Conference on Economics of Climate Change (InCECC)

The 1st International Conference on Economics of Climate Change, held on October 23–24, 2023, at the University of Economics in Katowice, focused on the economic aspects of climate action. This inaugural event brought together over 50 participants to discuss findings from the ECOnomics4Climate project, promoting interdisciplinary collaboration for climate-neutral strategies.

26. - 29. 9. 2023, EAIE 2023 in Rotterdam

From September 26–29, 2023, Brechtine Detmar showcased the DO IT project at the EAIE conference alongside Beijing Foreign Studies University and Han Seng University (Hong Kong). A small but engaged group of 10 attendees participated in this session, diving into the possibilities of COIL and BIP for international education.

05-2023, U!REKA Lunch Peer Group - Amsterdam 2023

In May 2023, the U!REKA lunch peer group in Amsterdam brought together COIL enthusiasts to exchange ideas on leveraging the DO IT project’s tools and insights. With eight participants, this informal yet productive session further strengthened the collaborative spirit of the U!REKA network.

15. - 17. 5. 2022, U!REKA Connects 2022 in Ghent

From May 15–17, 2022, the 6th Annual U!REKA Connects Conference took place in Ghent, hosted by HOGENT University of Applied Sciences and Arts. With the theme "Strengthening Commonality of Expertise," this event marked a return to in-person collaboration after pandemic-related delays. Over 100 participants from U!REKA's partner institutions across Europe gathered for workshops, networking sessions, and discussions on joint research and education initiatives, including COIL and BIP. Online access to key sessions on May 18 ensured broader engagement.
